Eldorado High School (EHS) is proud to recognize students Oliver Burtis and Aiden Docksteiner for achieving a significant milestone in their career and technical education journey. As part of EHS’s ongoing partnership with Southeastern Illinois College (SIC), both students have successfully completed half of the coursework required for their Welding Certificate.

Under the instruction of EHS Welding instructor Kaleb Irwin, Oliver and Aiden have demonstrated outstanding commitment and skill, completing courses in Arc Welding I, Gas Welding & Cutting, MIG, and TIG welding. Their dedication to mastering these essential trade skills sets a remarkable example for their peers and positions them as leaders within the school’s vocational program.

Instructor Kaleb Irwin had this to say: “Both Aiden and Oliver have worked extremely hard over the past two years to achieve this goal. They have set the bar high by being the first students at EHS to be able to graduate from high school and in the same year, earn their welding certificate. I am very proud to work alongside them every day, and I know they will be a great asset to a future employer.”

This fall, the students will continue their education at Southeastern Illinois College, where they are on track to complete the remainder of their certification. Upon successful completion in December 2025, they will graduate with their Welding Certificates and be fully career-ready, equipped with the knowledge and experience to enter the workforce confidently.

“These students are setting the Gold Standard,” said Eldorado High School Principal Cody Cusic. “It’s exciting to see young people embrace the trades and position themselves for success right out of high school.”

EHS celebrates Oliver and Aiden’s hard work and looks forward to following their continued success as they represent #EaglePride in both academic and career achievements.
